Why I Work with Networks
The below post is a guest piece by Michael Wittmeyer of www.BestPokerSites.org.
In the early days of poker affiliating, the question always asked by new affiliates was “Should I take MGR or CPA?” Nowadays, an equally important question is “Should I go direct or work with a network?” This article is going to explain what a poker affiliate network is, how working with a network compares to working direct, and why I personally prefer to work with a network.
2011 Goals
I suppose I’m a little late getting this post out now that we’re over a week into the new year. But considering that there are 254 days left in the year, it’s probably ok
Most of my goals this year are business related. I’m excited because this will be the first year where 100% of my focus is spent on improving my business. I do have a few personal goals mixed in as well. Anyway, let’s get to it.
End of the Year
I can’t believe it’s the end of the year already. The year has gone by pretty quick – especially the last few months.
The last couple of months has been crazy. I moved to Full Tilt to play the 90-man SNGs since PokerStars kicked me off. Everything was going ok after that. I was making decent money (averaged about $7 a game iirc over 700 games), final tabled a few MTTs and the girlfriend and I decided it’d be worthwhile to move to Oregon so I can pursue poker a bit more aggressively.
October Progress Report
This month went fairly well, despite the huge setback of not being able to play on PokerStars. I didn’t quite meet all of my goals for the month, but at the very least got started on most of them.
The biggest goal that I missed was the volume. My volume was laughable for this month – only 200 games. I knew the 90mans took longer, but didn’t realize how much longer they really took. I think 200 games is still much lower than what I’m capable of and will look to increase this significantly for November.
September Recap – October Goals
It’s been a bit too long since my last update, so here we go….
To start off with, September has been my busiest month ever since I started working for myself over a year and a half ago. This is due to me picking up other projects in addition to my own grind (work + poker) which already consumed quite a bit of my day to begin with.
Vacation
As of tomorrow I’ll be on vacation for a week. I’m headed to the beach in Newport, Oregon with the girlfriend and her mom. We generally go down there every year for the girlfriend’s birthday.
I think most people who go on vacation try to leave their everyday commitments at home and forget about them. I’m not really like that. While I definitely try to relax and not work, I do use vacation time to reflect on the last year or so in terms of my business. I think of new projects, re-evaluate where I’m at with current ones and set new goals.
Website Failure
Ok, this is just a quick post to let everyone know that I didn’t just post twice and decide to take the site down. There was an error of some kind. I actually thought the error was from the theme, but found out as I dug further tonight that it was actually an operator error – oops!
Anyway, if I had your link up to the right but it’s not there now, just let me know.
